Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Why do I have to upload my medical ID?

MedAll is a service for medics, by medics. We want you to have confidence in the system, and it provides a measure of safety and security. We accept photos of your hospital or clinic ID card, your degree certificate or your medical licensing (e.g. GMC) certificate. If you are a student we accept a copy of your matriculation documentation or student ID card.

Please ensure your card contains your full name and job title. If you are a student please ensure your documentation states that you are studying medicine.

How long does it take to verify me as a healthcare professional?

We aim to have everyone who is eligible verified within 24hours. Most likely it will be sooner though.

What if my hospital, city or university is not listed?

If your hospital is not in our drop down menu we recommend you choose the closest possible clinic, hospital, trust. Our system has been designed to remove close duplicates so that you can easily match with other medics in your institutions. If however, there is still not an acceptably close workplace you can enter a new one simply by typing the full name of your institution and then clicking anywhere else on the screen.

If your city or university are not included in our dropdown you can also add a new one using the method above.

If you find a problem like this, we’d be grateful if you could explain the problem to us in a quick email and we’ll aim to fix it ASAP: hello@MedAll.org

What types of file do you accept for upload?

We accept JPGs as proof of your ID and for your profile image.

For all other documents (including those attached to your achievements and in your library documents) we accept only PDF format for now. This is because they are much more secure and are much more difficult to corrupt with viruses. If you have a document in a different format there are a few options to convert your files:

EASY, RECOMMENDED METHOD:

(1) You can also add files to your library by taking a photo of them on your phone using a PDF scanner such as scannable and using the app to email them to me@my.medall.org from the same email address you use for MedAll

OTHER METHODS

(2) There are free converters that you can use. One example of this is PrimoPDF.

(3) In addition newer versions of Microsoft Office usually include a ‘Save to PDF’ option.

What if my document contains pre-published work?

If you intend to submit work contained in any document you upload to a journal, we advise you to contact the publisher to check their policy on prepublication.

What peer review process does MedAll employ?

Please note that documents on this site may have been published, or presented at national and international meetings, but have otherwise not been peer reviewed. The work contained in the documents may be preliminary in nature.

How can I contact a document’s author?

At the moment you can’t contact members through our site, but this feature is coming soon.

When you are matched in a collaborative project with another use you will receive each other’s contact details.

I found inappropriate or offensive material on this site

Please contact us at hello@medall.org quoting the name on the profile, the nature of the material and the section of the profile you saw it in. We will remove all inappropriate content as soon as possible.

  • On your collaborate dashboard, in “Your projects” click “start new project”
  • Complete the detail of the project and click “Save”
  • It will now be visible in “your projects”
  • To find people to contribute to your project, click “add role” and complete details of the role then click save
  • When someone fits the bill they will pop into the “potential” category. To invite them to join you click invite or the tick.
  • When someone is interested in your project, or they have responded to your invitation they will appear in “expressed interest”
  • To get their details and get going with a collaborative project click the tick under profiles in the “expressed interest category”
  • You will be sent their email address to your inbox. Get in touch to start collaborating to change the world together!
What are collaboration thanks?

We wholeheartedly believe that you have to thank people when they do a great job.

The collaboration thanks medal under someones profile picture indicates the number of times someone has thanked them for participating in their project. Its a simple way of project owners rewarding those who have contributed to their project.

How do I give someone a collaboration thanks medal?

To thank someone they must be collaborators on a project with you, and you must have finished working with them. If you have already removed them from your project you cannot thank them.

When you finish collaborating with someone hit the little “x” below their name on your project. You will be given the option to “thank them publicly and remove from the project” or just “remove from project.” Clicking the first option will reward the person with a “collaboration thanks” medal. Choosing the second option will remove them but won’t say thanks. Don’t forget to give them some feedback too.
