Obstetrics is one of those wonderful specialities in medicine. You get to be part of a team that welcomes new life to the world.
The newborn baby’s parents will also have hopes for their precious new delivery.
And as doctors we who know this emotion well- so when we came to “deliver” MedAll into the world we recognised a similar sense of emotion. We have been working on the development of the tool for over 6 months and have been testing as we go along.
In late October we started pilot testing the first version of MedAll.
We have been testing it up and down the country with doctors and medical students from every specialty and at every grade. And the feedback we have received, from over 300 healthcare professionals has been overwhelming. Consistently, doctors and medical students described the value in working more closely together as a team. With MedAll that becomes a lot easier.
They see the difference a smart, connected portfolio can make and described the relief that having all of their documents in a single place, forever, would bring: no more pauses to your development if you take a year out of training. No more changes to where you store your CPD material when you change grade or specialty. No more loss of access to a portfolio if you are a locum. And no longer do they have to “hide” their achievements in dusty paper folders or non-networked e-portfolios. By showcasing their career development they can begin to grow their career. Our AI algorithm begins to match them with collaborators too- so research, audits, courses and QI projects become a lot easier. It’s time portfolios worked for doctors and their patients, rather than the other way around!
Importantly, we believe MedAll can make a difference to patients, not only in the UK, but around the world.
Seeing our baby born has been one of our proudest moments- and now it’s time to help it grow into something that makes a positive difference to the world.
